Blog Post # 4

For my midterm i will be discussing the selfish gene. I am siding with the idea that humans do possess a selfish gene.This is my introduction:

It is very often we hear people contemplating the idea of risking their lives for a family member or even a stranger. Most often they would choose their family over someone they do not know. The thing to consider is why they would choose family over the stranger. Most of the time the answer would be 'because they love them'. According to Richard Dawkins he would argue against that idea. I agree that it s hard to choose altruism over selfishness because evolution favors taking care of one's close family first.
